The process of planning and creating a design for your cake is one of the most fun and relaxed aspects of your wedding. It allows your creativity and style to truly evolve as we work closely together to ensure that your cake is not just everything that you want it to be, rather it is more than you could have ever dreamt it could be.
As soon as you know the date for your wedding and know that you want a flawless bespoke cake I would advise that you contact me to check my availability. I only take on two wedding cakes per week in peak season so space in my diary can be limited.
Once I have confirmed my availability I ask for a small non-refundable deposit to secure your space. Now the fun bit starts…
When your deposit is secured I will arrange to have you over to my home for an informal chat and consultation, (or via zoom if you prefer). Prior to our meeting I will forward you a flavours guide where you may select 6 samples to taste. Over the course of your consultation we will discuss your design ideas. I will learn and understand the importance of ”The Cake’ to you, establish what your style is, the theme and tone of your day, the venue, your styling and also your vibe so that the design of the cake truly enhances your day and helps tie everything together.
At this point it is worth bearing in mind that a semi-naked or buttercream finished cake with fresh flowers will cost significantly less than a showstopper covered top to bottom in sugar flowers, so, I would always advise that you come to your consultation with a figure in mind of how much of your overall budget you are allocating to your wedding cake. It is also very helpful if you can bring swatches of your chosen bridesmaid dress colours, one of your invitations and a mood board if you have created one.
Following your consultation I will send you over my design ideas and a quote for your cake, this may be tweaked and altered to suit your budget, aspirations and to reflect the importance of the role of ’The Cake’ to you.
Once the design is decided I will confirm everything to you via email (I like to have a paper trail). Now all you have to do is sit back, relax, enjoy the extra taster box I send you home with, decide your flavours and trust in me and my process.
The countdown ...…. A month prior to the wedding I like you to confirm your flavours options to me, I will then forward you a final invoice. If I am making sugar flowers for you I will already have liaised with your florist to ensure that the colour pallet is correct and the process of hand making them will already be well underway A week prior to the wedding I will confirm timings for set up and delivery with your venue.
On the big day…. Enjoy every second!
I will have delivered and set up your cake well in advance of you arriving so there is no need for you to worry about anything other than enjoying your beautiful day and eating delicious cake.
As I only take on two weddings per week It is never too early to enquire about availability for you wedding date.
